What things actually sell for
Completed sales, not asking prices, with the sample size beside every figure so you can judge how much weight it carries. Anyone can show you a gold price. The number that is hard to find is what a particular watch actually cleared at, and how many sales that came from.

Median sold price by brand
The median is the middle of what actually cleared, so a handful of outliers do not move it. Each brand below has at least 150 completed sales behind its figure and a page of its own.
Smaller samples
These have fewer than 150 completed sales behind them. Real figures, thinner evidence, and we would rather show you the sample size than round it into a page of its own.

How these numbers are produced
Each brand figure is the median of completed, verified sales over the window shown. Asking prices are excluded, because an asking price is what a seller hoped for rather than what a buyer paid. Outliers are removed before the median is taken and the rules are the same for every brand. Spot metals are the world price for one troy ounce of pure metal, recorded on the date shown.
Everything we publish comes from this one weekly snapshot, so this page, our posts and our newsletter always quote the same figure with the same date. That is deliberate: a business quoting two different numbers for the same thing in two places is not one anybody should trust with an appraisal.
These are a starting point rather than an appraisal. Condition, completeness and the specific reference move a real number a long way from a category median. The appraisal is free, takes minutes, and happens in front of you at 907 Sixth Ave.
