What we look at on a Panerai
Panerai started in Florence in 1860 and spent its first century supplying instruments and dive watches to the Italian Navy before it became a consumer brand in the 1990s. The cushion case and the crown-protecting bridge are the shapes people recognise, and the PAM reference number is the first thing any buyer will ask you for.
- The PAM reference number, on the papers and between the lugs
- Box, papers, and the spare strap and screwdriver Panerai supplies
- Case size and whether the case is unpolished
- Original strap and buckle, which are worth real money on their own
- Movement: in-house P-series versus the earlier supplied calibres
Panerai lines we buy
- Luminor and Luminor Marina
- The crown-guard bridge case. The most commonly traded family, and PAM number decides a great deal.
- Radiomir
- The earlier cushion case with wire lugs. Cleaner and often more collectible.
- Submersible
- The dive line with a rotating bezel.
- Luminor Due
- The slimmer, more wearable case for smaller wrists.
- Special editions and in-house movements
- Limited runs and the P-series calibres are valued case by case.

Questions people ask first
What is a PAM number and where do I find it?
It is the reference that identifies exactly which Panerai you have, written as PAM followed by three or four digits. It is on the paperwork, on the box label, and engraved between the lugs on the case. It is the single most useful thing you can tell us over the phone.
Does the original strap matter?
More than most people expect. Panerai straps and buckles are expensive to replace, so an original strap and the sealed spare add to what we can pay.
Do you buy older pre-Richemont Panerai?
Yes, and those are often the interesting ones. Early references and limited runs are valued individually rather than against current retail.
Prefer to keep it? Borrow against the watch instead. Not local? Sell from home. Selling something else too? We also buy diamonds, jewelry and designer handbags.
