How your gold is actually priced

Two numbers decide it: how much the piece weighs and how much of that weight is gold. We weigh in grams on a certified scale in front of you, test the karat, and multiply against the live spot price that day. Stones, clasps and non-gold parts are deducted because they are not gold.

That is the whole calculation, and we will show you each step rather than quoting one number and asking you to trust it.

Does the spot price change what I get?

Yes, every day, and sometimes noticeably within a week. Any San Diego gold buyer quoting you a fixed price per gram that never moves is not pricing against the market. Ask what spot is on the day you come in; we will tell you, and you can check it on your phone while you stand there.
