What we look at on a Omega
Omega has been in Biel since 1848 and is the most widely owned Swiss watch at this level, which cuts both ways: there is always a buyer, and the market knows exactly what each reference is worth. The Speedmaster went to the moon in 1969 and the Seamaster has been James Bond’s watch since 1995, so these are watches people inherit and then discover are worth real money.
- The reference and serial, which date the watch precisely on this brand
- Box, papers and any Extract from the Archives
- Whether the dial has been refinished, which is a real deduction on vintage
- Bracelet: correct end links, full length, and whether it is original
- Service history, and whether the original parts were kept
Omega lines we buy
- Speedmaster
- The moonwatch. Reference, dial variant and whether it is hand-wound or automatic all matter.
- Seamaster and Aqua Terra
- The dive and everyday lines. Very widely traded, so condition decides most of it.
- Constellation
- The dress line with the observatory case-back. Gold examples carry a metal floor.
- De Ville
- Thin dress watches, often in gold and often inherited.
- Vintage and pre-1970 pieces
- Valued on originality: dial, hands and case sharpness rather than on polish.
- And many others
- This list is where most people start, not where we stop. Bring anything with the Omega name on the dial.
Not listed? We buy across the range, including discontinued and vintage references. Call (619) 236-9603 with the reference number and we will tell you where it sits.
Questions people ask first
Is my inherited Omega worth anything?
Very often more than people expect, and this is the single most common surprise at our counter. A gold De Ville or Constellation from the 1960s carries both metal value and collector interest, and an early Speedmaster can be worth a great deal. Do not assume age has cost it value.
Do you buy quartz Omegas?
Yes. They are worth less than their mechanical equivalents, but gold cases still carry metal value and we will give you a real number rather than turning you away.
Should I have it serviced or polished first?
No to both. A service rarely earns its cost back, and polishing softens the case edges that a collector pays for. Bring it as it is and tell us what it is doing.
Prefer to keep it? Borrow against the watch instead. Not local? Sell from home. Selling something else too? We also buy diamonds, jewelry and designer handbags.
