How much is my gold worth today?
Weight and purity establish how much gold a piece contains; the current market gives that metal a reference value. We test the karat and weigh the piece in front of you. Stones and non-gold parts are assessed separately. Spot-based metal value is not a guaranteed purchase offer: resale potential and the item itself also matter.
Ask the buyer to explain the weight, purity and basis of the offer before deciding.
What do I need to bring?
Bring your gold and a valid government-issued photo ID. Leave the pieces as they are. If you are unsure whether an unusual item is suitable, call before making the trip.
Does the spot price change what I get?
Gold's market price changes, so it affects the metal-value reference used in an appraisal. Spot price is not the same as an offer for your item. Ask which market reference, tested purity and weight are being used, and how those factors relate to the offer.
What forms of gold do you buy?
Jewelry whether or not it is wearable, broken chains, single earrings, bent and tangled pieces, class rings, dental gold, scrap, coins and bullion bars. Nothing needs to be repaired, polished or cleaned first. Damage does not reduce what the metal is worth, and a repair you pay for rarely earns its cost back.
Do you buy gold coins and bullion?
Yes. Coins are valued differently from scrap: a Krugerrand, Maple Leaf, Eagle or sovereign trades close to its gold content, while a collectible or graded coin can be worth considerably more than melt. We check before we weigh, because melting a coin worth a premium would be the expensive mistake.
Do you buy broken or scrap gold?
Yes. Broken chains, single earrings, bent rings, dental gold and unmarked pieces are all bought by weight and karat. Damage does not reduce the metal value.
What about silver and platinum?
We buy silver and platinum items, including coins and bullion. Each metal has its own purity and market value. With sterling flatware and hollowware, fillers, weighted bases and non-silver parts mean total weight may not equal silver weight. Tell us what you have before your visit if you are unsure.
Where can I sell gold near me in San Diego?
Visit 907 6th Ave in downtown San Diego, Monday to Friday, 10am to 6pm. Weekday walk-ins are welcome; calling ahead helps us match you with the right buyer. Reserved customer parking is available in the ACE lot across the street, directly opposite our storefront. Paid parking options are also available. How do I get paid?
Same day you accept. There is no per-transaction cash limit, though a very large amount needs a day's notice so we can arrange the funds. Check and wire are always available.
Can I borrow against it instead of selling?
Yes. A collateral loan lets you keep ownership while we hold the piece in a climate-controlled vault. No credit check, nothing reported to a credit bureau, no minimum and no maximum. The standard term is four months and you can redeem early.
